Randy Rhoads combined classical guitar training with heavy metal fury to produce one of the most technically sophisticated solos in rock history on Crazy Train. His arpeggiated runs, precisely executed legato passages, and classical-influenced phrasing were unlike anything heavy metal had heard. Rhoads was just 21 when he recorded it and died in a plane crash two years later, leaving behind a legacy that still shapes metal guitar.
