Abscond — to leave secretly and hide
Acumen — keen insight or shrewdness
Adulterate — to make impure by adding inferior ingredients
Aesthetic — concerned with beauty or art
Alacrity — eager willingness, cheerful readiness
Ambivalent — having mixed or conflicting feelings
Ameliorate — to make better, improve
Anachronism — something out of its proper time period
Antipathy — strong dislike or hostility
Study method: Don't just read definitions. Write a sentence using each word. Use flashcards with the word on one side and definition + example sentence on the other.
