High-Frequency GRE Words — Set 9

Indifferent — having no interest or concern

Ingenuous — innocent, naive, candid (NOT ingenious!)

Innocuous — harmless, not offensive

Insipid — lacking flavor or interest, dull

Intransigent — unwilling to compromise, stubborn

Irascible — easily angered

Laconic — using very few words, concise

Laudable — deserving praise

Lethargic — sluggish, drowsy, lacking energy

Lucid — clear, easy to understand


DANGER PAIR: Ingenuous vs ingenious. Ingenuous = naive, innocent. Ingenious = clever, inventive. One letter difference, opposite meanings. The GRE will test this.
