Verbal Reasoning — What You'll Face

27 questions in 41 minutes across two sections.

Question Types:

1. Text Completion — fill in 1-3 blanks in a passage (~6 per section)

2. Sentence Equivalence — pick 2 words that create same meaning (~4 per section)

3. Reading Comprehension — passages with questions (~10+ per section)

Key difference from SAT: GRE vocabulary is significantly harder. Words like "perspicacious," "enervate," "specious" are fair game. You MUST build vocabulary.

Strategy: Vocabulary accounts for roughly 50% of verbal. If you learn 500 high-frequency GRE words, you'll see a massive score jump.
