Conclusion indicators: therefore, thus, hence, consequently, so, it follows that, clearly

Premise indicators: because, since, for, given that, as shown by, due to


The trick: The conclusion can appear first, last, or middle. Signal words are your guide.


No signal words? Ask: "What is the author trying to convince me of?" That's the conclusion. Everything else is support.


Drill: For every LR stimulus, write the conclusion in your own words before reading the question. This habit separates 160 scorers from 170 scorers.
