Resolve the Paradox / Explain the Discrepancy

"Which most helps to explain the findings described above?"

Pattern: The stimulus presents two facts that seem contradictory.

Example: "Sales increased 30%, but profits decreased."

Strategy:

1. Identify the two conflicting facts clearly

2. The correct answer explains how BOTH can be true simultaneously

3. It doesn't deny either fact — it reconciles them

In the example: "The company slashed prices by 50% to boost volume" explains how sales (units) went up but profits went down.

Trap: An answer that explains only one of the two facts. It must account for the apparent contradiction between both.

These are among the easiest LR questions. Master them for free points.
