"Which best expresses the main point of the passage?"
Strategy:
1. After reading, state the main point in your own words
2. Match to the closest answer choice
Traps:
Too narrow: True but only covers one paragraph
Too broad: Could apply to any passage on the topic
Wrong opinion: Gets the author's stance wrong
Detail as main point: A specific fact isn't the main argument
The right answer: Covers the entire passage, matches the author's tone and opinion, doesn't overstate or understate.
Test: Would this work as a one-sentence summary? If yes, it's probably correct.
