Cravings — Your Body Talking

Every craving has a yin-yang explanation and a macrobiotic solution.

Craving sweets? Body wants the sweet taste → eat more squash, onions, carrots (natural sweet). Also could mean too much yang (salt, meat).

Craving salt/cheese? Too much yin (sugar, alcohol, fruit). Eat more whole grains and miso.

Craving alcohol? Excess yang (meat, baked goods, salt). Eat lighter, more greens.

Craving chocolate? Often magnesium deficiency. Also yin-yang swing. Eat more leafy greens (high magnesium) and sweet vegetables.

Craving bread/pasta? Body wants complex carbs but gravitates to refined. Eat more whole grains, especially rice.

Key: Cravings are not willpower failures. They are messages. The macrobiotic approach is to address the cause, not fight the symptom.
