Ume-Sho-Kuzu — The #1 Healing Drink

The most frequently prescribed macrobiotic home remedy. Strengthens digestion, alkalizes blood, restores vitality.


Recipe:

1. Dissolve 1 tsp kuzu (not cornstarch) in 1 cup cold water

2. Heat slowly while stirring until it thickens and becomes translucent

3. Add 1/2 umeboshi plum (mashed) and 1/2 tsp soy sauce

4. Stir and drink hot


Uses: Fatigue, digestive upset, cold/flu onset, hangover, acid reflux, general weakness.


Kuzu: A root starch (Pueraria). Not the same as cornstarch. Must be real kuzu — some brands sell potato starch labeled as kuzu.
