Process of Elimination — Your Best Friend

You don't always need to find the right answer. Eliminate wrong ones.

On a 4-choice question:

Random guess: 25% chance

Eliminate 1: 33% chance

Eliminate 2: 50% chance

Common elimination patterns:

Extreme language: "always," "never," "all," "none" — usually wrong in Reading

Out of scope: Introduces a topic not in the passage

Opposite: Says the reverse of the passage

Half right: First part correct, second part wrong

Strategy: Use the digital SAT's strikethrough feature. Forcing yourself to engage with each choice improves accuracy.

No penalty for guessing. Never leave a question blank. Ever.
