Many of the most used verbs in Spanish are irregular. Their forms don't follow the standard patterns — memorize them through repetition and daily use.

High-Frequency Irregular Verbs

  • hacer (to do/make): hago, haces, hace, hacemos, hacéis, hacen
  • querer (to want/love): quiero, quieres, quiere, queremos, queréis, quieren
  • poder (to be able): puedo, puedes, puede, podemos, podéis, pueden
  • saber (to know a fact): sé, sabes, sabe, sabemos, sabéis, saben
  • conocer (to know a person): conozco, conoces, conoce...
  • venir (to come): vengo, vienes, viene, venimos, venís, vienen
  • salir (to go out): salgo, sales, sale, salimos, salís, salen
  • decir (to say): digo, dices, dice, decimos, decís, dicen

Saber vs. Conocer

  • saber — to know a fact or how to do something: Sé hablar español.
  • conocer — to know a person or place: Conozco a María.
