
The final step of naturalization is taking the Oath of Allegiance at a ceremony. You become a citizen the moment you take this oath.
Key promises in the Oath:
Give up loyalty to all foreign countries and their rulers
Support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States
Bear true faith and allegiance to the same
Bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law
Perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces when required
Perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required
Take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion

After the ceremony: You receive your Certificate of Naturalization. You can immediately apply for a US passport and register to vote.
